The Los Angeles Model Railroad Society (LAMRS) is a non-profit California corporation made up of a diverse group of model railroad enthusiasts of many ages, professions and backgrounds. The LAMRS has been promoting the hobby of model railroading for more than twenty five years and is the proud operator of the HO Scale Great Lakes & Western (GL&W) Railroad.

Our layout is located at 14005 South Crenshaw Boulevard in the city of Hawthorne. We are open every Tuesday night at 7:00 PM except the 1st Tuesday of the month. Visitors to the club are always welcome, however it is recommended that you call the club (310-675-3361) in advance as our schedule may vary.

The members of the LAMRS feel that we should use our model railroad interests to benefit the community. We do this by offering entertaining and educational events at our very large model railroad layout (2000 sqft) to such worthy groups as the 4H, Boy Scouts of America and Richstone Family Center. We also use our bi-annual open house shows to raise funds to support various beneficial community programs.

We pride ourselves in welcoming beginning and novice model railroaders into our great hobby and immediately getting them involved in the fun of operating trains and working on our model railroad. The LAMRS works hard to ensure the continued development and enjoyment of the hobby for our members with events such as how-to modeling clinics, group outings to railroad locations throughout Southern California, visiting and hosting other model railroad clubs for guest operating sessions, as well as active involvement with the National Model Railroad Association.
