One area that had become problematic for the standard gauge, due to the deterioration of the track over the last few years, is the one eighty degree curve in Bear Paw. Derailments were common especially with trains with longer cars. This was especially frustrating as a good portion of this trackage is only accessed from underneath. The modelers of the narrow gauge had decided also that they weren't totally happy with their track plan in that area so as a joint project the whole section has been ripped out and will be rebuilt and updated.

The town of Kramer is no more. L.A. and Mike start the reconstruction by forming the new spline sub-roadbed for the standard gauge track.
